What set this conference apart?
A sustainable-forward approach: The event marked the first use of isla’s TRACE platform for sustainability measurement, helping reduce overall emissions by one-third. Three-quarters of event waste was either recycled, composted or repurposed.
A meaningful social legacy: Hundreds of Belfast schoolchildren met astronauts and STEM leaders during the conference, sparking inspiration and interest in future careers in science, technology and exploration.
Economic impact: The event delivered an estimated £1.7 million boost to Belfast and the surrounding area, a testament to the wider value of well-executed live experiences.

Judges thoughts
Judges praised the event’s clear sustainability objectives, robust stakeholder engagement, and the way it leveraged Belfast’s progressive infrastructure to minimise impact across energy, catering, and transport. The UK Space Conference 2023 not only set a new standard for responsible event delivery but demonstrated how strategic planning and industry collaboration can inspire both immediate and enduring change.
Looking ahead, planning is already underway for UK Space Conference 2025, taking place 16–17 July 2025. The team at Bray Leino Events is focused on building on the success of 2023 and raising the bar even higher.
