For the last two years, our people have chosen to support Help Bristol’s Homeless (HBH). The charity’s ethos is about prioritising getting people into safe, stable, and comfortable accommodation.
HBH gives people a ‘hand up, not a hand out’, says founder and CEO Jasper Thompson.
Our people used their ‘we care’ time to help renovate new containers and delivered furniture and upholstery leftover from event projects to help make the spaces comfortable.
We were able to support the charity on one of its biggest nights of the year by doing what we do best, delivering an event. In February, the ‘Home is where the Art is’ event saw over 60 pieces of art sold in a lively auction - including work from Beth Carter, Inkie, Jamie Evans, and John Do’h – raising over £13,000.
So, in early December, we organised donations and sourced local suppliers for things like warm weather clothing and sleeping bags, toiletries, sanitary products, and other necessities. Then we spent an afternoon filling rucksacks for HBH to distribute to people who need them.
That’s why you won’t be getting a Christmas card from Bray Leino Events this year. Hopefully, your disappointment will be tempered by the knowledge that the money went to a brilliant charity that makes a real impact for people when they need it most.
